Or, if you are an adventurer, a kindred spirit with the insider knowledge to score soccer tickets, a seat at the bullfight, or a midnight table in the tavern where the Flamenco is a flame, not a "show." And ohhh the food ...!" – LYNNE COOPER La Cañada Flintridge

  • “What a trip to Italy that was! We enjoyed each city and the choice of accommodation really was special. Thank you! Your team does a tremendous job with the groups and the attention to detail was outstanding. Thank you so much!” – KAREN + STEVE WYLIE Rancho Santa Margarita, California

In the coming months, we will create exciting updates and share helpful tips like we did for our other travelers, in this case, OCYC of Tesoro HS.

Umbria aka the 'other Tuscany'

The New York Times once fittingly called Umbria  "the other Tuscany'. Once a hidden gem, Italy’s "green heart" is now every bit as celebrated as its still more famous neighbor and one of our favorite destinations to visit, especially in spring (as pictured here). The reasons are simple: the region has all of Tuscany’s attributes – and a few more. It has the same romantic scenery – the olive groves, vineyards and cypress-topped hills, plus a coronet of charming and easily visited hilltop towns, such as Perugia & Assisi, which are the main destinations for SCCA.

Finally, there are qualities to Umbria beyond beautiful hill towns, olive groves or cypresses... Umbria mistica – mystical Umbria – some have called it, or "la terra dei santi", the land of saints, after the hundreds of saints born here, including St Valentine and the two fathers of Western monasticism, St Francis and St Benedict.

Take a look at our website for more information on Perugia and Assisi, plus other charming destinations away from the obvious tourist routes.

Sightseeing Highlights with Entrance Included

PRIMAVERA includes $50 towards entrances to the following sights:
  • Basilca of St. Francis Assisi
  • Colosseum + Roman Forum
  • Vatican Museums
  • St. Peter's Basilica (free entrance, but audio guide fee)

Optional Visit: LDS Temple in Rome (for Anyone Interested)

The Rome Italy Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) is a significant religious site for members of the LDS Church.

We're happy to offer transportation to/from the LDS temple for interested travelers during free time and assist coordination that visit.

Here’s a summary of its history, architecture, and significance:

History

  • Announced and Construction: The Rome Italy Temple was announced by LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson on October 1, 2008. Construction began in 2009, and the temple was dedicated on March 10, 2019.

  • Location: Situated in the EUR district of Rome, the temple serves as a central place of worship for LDS members in Italy and nearby countries.

Architecture

  • Design: The temple is designed in a modern classical style, featuring a white marble exterior that reflects traditional LDS temple aesthetics while incorporating modern elements suited to its urban Italian setting.

  • Features: It includes a central spire topped with an angel Moroni statue, which is a common feature in LDS temple architecture. The interior of the temple is designed with elegance and reverence, reflecting the sacred nature of its purpose.

Significance

  • Spiritual Center: For LDS members, the Rome Italy Temple is a vital spiritual center. It provides a place for sacred ordinances, such as baptisms for the dead, marriages, and other ceremonies that are central to LDS beliefs.

  • Cultural Impact: The temple stands as a symbol of the LDS Church's growth and presence in Europe. Its construction in Rome, a city with a rich religious history, highlights the church’s global expansion and its commitment to providing places of worship worldwide.

  • Visitor Experience: Visiting the temple offers members a unique opportunity to experience the spiritual ambiance of the temple in a historical and culturally rich setting. The beauty of the temple, combined with its significance in their faith, makes it a deeply meaningful experience for LDS visitors.

For LDS Church members traveling to Italy, the Rome Italy Temple is not just a place of worship but also a testament to the church’s global reach and a personal spiritual destination.
